Gear Talk / Klymit vs. Therma-Rest sleeping pads

Just wondering if anyone has experience using both of these pads and how they compare?  The Klymit have some nice sounding features but do they work? They seem to be plenty light and compact when packed and they are thick, so are they comfortable and durable?

Gear Talk / Which triple crankset will fit my bike?

I am currently running a 9 speed drivetrain with a Shimano Ultegra 6503 triple crankset,52-42-30. I haven't had the bottom bracket apart but will assume it is an Octolink but not sure if it is a V1 orV2. I want to go to smaller chainrings, maybe 44-32-22. What 9 speed cranks will fit my bottom bracket? If they are mountain bike cranks, which I assume they probably will be, are there other considerations to make? Will any mountain bottom bracket s fit a road bike? Is BB width an issue?

Gear Talk / Rear rack for Nashbar panniers?

I'm starting out on the low budget touring. Ordered Nashbars waterproof panniers and was wondering if anyone else is using these and if so what rear rack works good with them? I've read here that sometimes panniers and rack don't match up so well and thought I would check here for some recommendations. I was thinking about the Topeak Supertourist Rack with sidebar, has anyone tried it?

Gear Talk / Why are most of the tires wire bead?

I'm a newbie to touring and am outfitting a bike for some spring time touring. Almost all the tires I look at are wire bead. I would like folding so I can pack them for a trip. I am looking for 700c x 32 at a reasonable cost around $40. Am I looking in the wrong places too cheap or what?
