Routes / April Weather in Kansas

I am planning on taking the TransAm route, starting out in Colorado in late March, does anybody know what the weather will be like in Kansas and Missouri?

Connecting ACA Routes / Connecting TransAM to Great River Route

I am riding from Colorado to Carbondale via the TransAm, then heading north to Iowa via the Great River Route. I will be touring in April. If anyone has toured these routes and has any information, for example (better routes, weather, best maps, resupply points, must see towns). I am also hauling a 110 lb dog on a trailer. Any replies are welcomed.
