South / Anyone comments on this Ramblin River multi-day trip in KY?
« on: March 27, 2016, 12:52:13 pm »I was hoping to find people who can comment on this Ramblin River Route (http://www.trailsrus.com/biking/ramblin.html )? I'm considering doing this tour, self-supported, in late May-early June in hopefully 9-10 days. It will be early in the season for me and I assumed since it's a river route, there would be no steep hills to climb!
Weather and bug-wise, is that a good time to do it? Also, whether the camping accommodations are plentiful and nicely spaced out over the route, whether they'll be open by May and whether the towns are easily accessible from the trail since it may be nice to pop in and visit and then return to the bike trails. Plus, if I get serious bike problems, I may have to head into town for help.
Also since it is a point-to-point route, not a loop, suggestions as to how to get myself & bike back to the start point (ie bigger town where I could catch a bus/train).
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
TIA, Mary
