Gear Talk / Tent ground cloth?

Anyone had any luck using tyvek house wrap as a waterproof ground cloth for a tent? Worried about the long term durability of its weave.

Gear Talk / handlebar bag

currently looking for a second handlebar bag, possibly a Lone Peak H-100 "Alta". Any reviews? I currently have the large Arkel, very nice but almost twice as expensive now.

Connecting ACA Routes / Green Mt. Loop alternate

Doing the Green Mt. Loop in Vermont in a week or so, and our group does not have enough time to do the entire loop. Starting near Burlington and going in a clockwise direction, we are considering leaving the ACA route in Lyndonville (near St. Johnsbury) and riding through So. Wheelock, Stannard, and Greensboro Bend before jumping on rt. 15 near Hardwick. Then taking rt. 15 west all the way to Cambridge. If anyone can shed any light on the riding conditions/grades along this proposed alternative, I would greatly appreciate it! Also, if anyone has any recommended backroads to take us from Cambridge north to Sheldon Springs, that would be very helpful also.

New England / Loop tour in Northern NH or Maine

Looking to do a loop ride/fully loaded tour in N. NH or maine in early august. 40-60 miles per day. Any suggestions? Would prefer to stay away from Acadia.

General Discussion / transam advice needed

planning to do the transam next summer on a tamdem. Looking for advice on which direction to travel (prevailing winds? -grades on mountain passes?) and also best months for optimal weather conditions. We plan on taking 2 1/2 to 3 months.
