Routes / US 40 in Illinois- HORRIBLE!

Just rode part of Eastern Express (Cloverdale, IN, to Marshall, IL).  US40 once we crossed into IL has NO paved shoulder, just 3 ft of large gravel, and LOTS of traffic/semis going 55+, one lane each direction so no place to move if oncoming traffic.  I have reported it to ACA route feedback.

We are creating our own (longer, not on 40) route for tmro.

General Discussion / How much water to carry?

My husband and I will be riding EE to TA May-July.  We will each have 2 large water bottles, a large Gatorade bottle, and a 4 liter HydraPak to use for more remote areas.

How much water capacity do others who have ridden these areas recommend?

Routes / Western states TransAm- any big bridges?

From Florence to West Yellowstone-  are there any big/high bridges?  (Anxiety issues!) 

And we have family coming to support us in an RV. Any vertical clearance or other issues for an RV along route?

If you’ve cycled this Hwy 126 in Oregon on the ACA TransAm, does his experience of no shoulder and logging trucks not moving over ring true?

Also ACA route info says the McKenzie highway is normally closed November until July.  Is this accurate?  How have cyclists managed—detour?  Ride later into summer heat?

Classifieds / FS: Topeak trailer w/ dry bag

For Sale: Topeak trailer w/  dry bag, used once (for a week).  No flag: the bike shop didn't give me one, somehow, and I didn't know.
Very good condition.
Comes with skewer (not a thru-axle) to attach to bike. I think it WILL NOT WORK WITH A THRU-AXLE.
The trailer big and somewhat heavy to ship (so $$) ; so I'm hoping to sell it to someone near Dayton, OH.
New ones ae over $500. I am asking $400. Cash or Paypay. I can send more pictures if needed.

General Discussion / Texas Hill Country question

Hello all!  Hubby & I have the ACA maps for this route but trying to figure out how to ride from airport parking to route.  There’s a brief description but looking at Google streetview, it looks impossible to avoid riding on shoulderless divided hwy.  Help appreciated.
