Connecting ACA Routes / Salt Lake City to Kansas City

I have to go from Salt Lake City to Kansas City. Thoughts on heading east to pick up the Trans America or South to pick up the Great Parks South and then head east. Anyone made this connection? Recommendations?

General Discussion / Fantastic Commuting Infrastructure

Everyday I ride over this bridge that connects my town with the next one here in Germany near Stuttgart. I ask myself constantly why can't we have this in the US? Used to live in Alexandra, VA and it was too damn dangerous just to ride to the District from where my house was situated, a friend was hit twice on the street outside our neighborhood.

I had an '07 Safari that was stolen, replaced with an '08. I hate the '08 frame. I am now moving back from Africa to Europe and am planning to replace the Safari with the disk trucker. I have not put many miles on in the last two years due to where I am living and am just going to swap all the components over to the LHT. My summer project...

Gear Talk / How to remove keyed steering tube sleeves?

Replacing the too low handlebars and non-adjustable stem on my new bike, which unfortunately for me, has a keyed steering tube and stem.

Anyone have any ideas on how to remove the sleeve over the steering tube without damaging the steerer?

Bike is a 2010 Novara Safari, replacing the keyed stem with a threadless riser and adjustable stem.

General Discussion / Novara Safari Stolen Today at Franconia Metro In DC

My Novara Safari was stolen today at Franconia Metro in Alexandria VA near DC. Three years of commuting on that bike and as a 2006 model no hope of replacing it. Ironically last night I just put a "Life is Good" sticker on the downtube.

Anyone out there have a line on another Safari?

Gear Talk / Front Rack for Novara Safari

Any other Safari riders out there have their bike fully racked? I have been using a bob and rear rack only but am now looking a front rack. I have tried the blackburn - which I had on two previous touring bikes, but it did not exactly fit very well.

Any other makes models you have found which work?

Anyone have bike touring experience in East Africa or Tanzania? I am moving to Dar es Salaam this July and plan on touring by bike extensively.

I have spent a fair amount of time in Africa but have never had a chance to get out and bike tour. Looking forward to any tips.

Like new REI Novarra Express rain gear for sale. Only worn about six times. Very good condition.

Mens large top and Men's medium bottoms. The jacket has a fleece collar, back pocket and mesh liner on the back. It also has pit zips and zippered pockets, a double zipper on the front also has a velcro flap. Shock cord draw strings at waist level. Also the back of the jacket is cut a little longer so that rain doesn't get down the back of the pants. The pants have reflective stripes of 3m tape by the lower zips on the legs for full booted entry. Draw string waist.

Buy one, Buy both. 40 apiece or 75 for the set, buyer pays shipping. New they are 59 apiece.

Will consider trade for something...your suggestion!
