Routes / New York. Newburgh-Beacon Bridge Open 24/7

The Newburgh-Beacon Bridge Pedestrian Walkway is to be open 24/7. Previously the bridge walkway was open only in certain hours in the day. Those traveling to or from north to New York City may want to cross the Hudson River. West of the Hudson is the majesty of the Catskills and less traffic. Another option is crossing over the Walkway Over the Hudson in Highland.

Back Roller Classic. Pair. Rear. 40L capacity. Blue with design (maybe the only pair like this you'll ever see). Bought last year; used one weekend trip and shopping. These sell for $180 plain; $220 with a design. $109.99.

Sport Packer Plus. Pair. Designed for use front or rear. 30L capacity. Black and graphite. Used for one 30 mile trip. Look brand new. These sell for $210. $139.99.

What you see is what you get. Both pairs use Ql2 mounting system; this is the late version with half instead of full mounting circles on the back. Both sets are waterproof. Both have double pockets inside; full and small zip. All the bags have 3M reflectors front and rear.

Not be a bad idea; to use both; have advantages of each. Buy both and I'll throw in a free messenger bag. All prices plus shipping. Will include on request for each set a pair of robust plastic bags I've found useful when touring; isolate wet bathing suit, dirty clothes for example.

Gear Talk / Sleeping Pad Recommendation

Looking for sleeping pad recommendation. Requirements are full length, non-inflatable, not more than a pound or so in weight, and not bulky. Currently have Ensolite pad; should be something better. Non-inflatable I have seen in stores are much too bulky. Had number of inflatable pads, self inflating, blow up, pump, no pump; soured on inflatables when on last trip inflatable valve failed. REI pad; no repair, even if I paid for repair.

Features: Free standing. Neutral color. One of the most popular solo backpacking, bicycle touring tents sold. Good head room; can sit up, unless very tall. Double wall tent; mitigates condensation problems of single wall tents. Very lightweight; 3 lb. total (Big Agnes says 2 lb, 9 oz, if comparing to other tent specs), including tent bag, poles, pole bag, stakes, and stake bag. Can use inner and outer tents together or separately. Tent poles are short enough to fit inside my pannier.

Inner tent is brand new. Outer is in excellent condition. This tent sells for $280.00. (This is the late model with clips for fast erection.)

Schwalbe Marathon Plus 700cx35 Hybrid, Touring. or Commuting Tire, with Smartguard. Less than 500 miles. How many miles will you get? Schwalbe says, "The Marathon Plus is outstanding with its extremely high mileage of approx. 8000 to 15000 km". What about flat protection? Schwalbe says, "flatless"; I say, maybe get a flat, but this is Schwalbe's best yet tire for durability and flat protection. A reviewer says also faster than Marathon Supreme. Have two; sold separately. $32.99 plus shipping. $5 discount on total if buy both. This tire sells for $59.09.
