Routes / Southern Tier: West => East or East => West ?

Before you go the Southern tier route, Check the trail conditions in New orleans/Katrina effected areas. I was talking to a friend that was saying that the area is still not open for Amtrak or freight trains due to damage to the storm. The bike trails may still be under re- construction as well.

I'm planning a trip on the Southern tier in the spring as well.Would you be looking for company along the way?I will be leaving Jacksonville, FL Intentively on about May 3,2006

I am planning a trip leaving Jacksonville,FL about the 3rd week of April taking the southern tier trail. This trip is going to be the entire summer continuing up the west coast to Anacortes, WA. Anyone interested in joining me any where along the way? I will be camping most of the time
