GPS & Digital Data Discussion / which GPS for trans Am touring?

Hi,
I really appreciate the advice that I have picked up from this forum.  Particularly From FredHiltz.  In part based upon this advice, I have recently purchased the Garmin 76C with City Select.  The first major trip I am planning is the AC Southern Tier, beginning mid Oct'05.  I have downloaded the waypoints, and played with them a bit.  I have not actually tryed to load the whole route nor the maps to my 76C, but reducing to 1000 way points, look like it will be a task.  Has anyone done that? And if so is it something that could be shared?

Routes / Bike route from San Diego down Baja

A few years back, when a friend and I did the Baja, we got a San Diego friend to drive us to Tecate, so that we would miss the heavy traffic south of Tiajuana.  When the secondary road (very nice) joined hw 1, close to Escondido, we then stayed on 1 most of the rest of the way.  It was busy around LaPaz, but otherwise pretty good, from a traffic perspective.  The final leg, into cabot, we left #1, and followed the coast route.  Be prepared to ride on shoulderless roads most of the way.  But if you can handle that, it is a great ride.  Hopefully the traffic is not much more than we had it.  

My favourite part was around Loreto.  

We took a bus back to Tiajuana (24hrs), and the street car into San Diego. If you are prepared to ride #1 south of Tiajuana, but do not want to ride the San Diego section, you could take the street car to the border.

General Discussion / Establish website or not?

I too, with another male friend, will attempt the w to e Southern tier, starting in October.  

We also do photos and electronic notes.  Rather than fussing with maintaining a website or keeping an on-line diary, I have always just kept my notes and photos with me and done periodic email updates to the friends at home.  Once home I upload my things and then work on them until I am happy with them.  In the last six years I have done eight trips in this way, most of them 2-3 months.  

This said, however, I am continually looking at the possibility of keeping my things on-line as I go.  The crazyguys site looks great, but half of my trips are trekking and climbing rather than biking so that would let me out there.  The other problem I have is that the resolution that I like in my digital photos results in 1.5 to 2 megs per photo, which I think is too large to upload to these sorts of services.
