I spoke with the Forest Service.  Highway 25 is open as of today.  They told me this is the latest this road has ever opened.

Gear Talk / clip-in pedals

I was having trouble with my toes going numb after about an hour on the bike.  I was using SPDs on MTB shoes.  I switched to road shoes and Look pedals because the contact area for the foot is larger and the bottom of the shoe is firmer and my problem went away.  I find the Looks easy to get in and out of but definitely not walking friendly.

Around town and on a tour when I know I'll be on and off the bike a lot, I like the "campus pedal" I got at Performance Bike.  It is SPD on one side and a platform on the other.  Great for riding on the bike path or in traffic.  These pedals also accomodate toe clips.

Gear Talk / Child Carrier for Cargo

Has anyone used a child trailer for hauling their gear when touring?  I've never used a trailer for touring and am thinking of getting one.  Used kid trailers are a lot more available and cheaper than used BOBs.  Any thoughts?  Thanks. :quest:

Routes / Florida in February

I may have the chance to go to Florida at the end of February and ride for a week.  I will be flying in and out of Jacksonville.  I see ACA has two routes (Southern Tier and Florida Connector) mapped in the area.  I'm curious what conditions will be like at that time of the year, and would be happy to hear from anyone familiar with these routes about scenery, riding conditions, etc...  Thanks.
