Routes / PA Bike Route G?
« on: December 11, 2005, 05:14:59 pm »
I'm going to ride the Blue Ridge Parkway starting in late April.  It practically runs into the southern end of Bike Route G and that practically runs into my house just across the border in NY.  Anybody out there run Bike Route G before?  I've ridden parts of the Parkway so I know what to expect there.  I've also ridden the norther 50 miles or so Route G but never the southern part.

Routes / Southern Tier in winter?

Considering riding the Southern Tier route in the next year or so but my only free time is in the winter.  Probably October-November east to west.  I'm a fairly hearty soul so I'm not too concerned about cold nights camping but worried about snow in the mountains.  Does it get high enough to worry about that?

Routes / NY PA Route

It's going to be pretty difficult to get there without climbing much.  I'm from the Elmira area and it's pretty hilly south of there.  However, most back roads in the Southern Tier of New York and Pennsylvannia are pretty nice for cycling.  Shouldn't be hard to find a low-traffic route.

Looking for a good route from Las Vegas north to Battle Mountain.  Any suggestions?

Up the Blue Ridge Parkway and onto Pennsylvannia Bike Route G.  Riding the entire length of both.  My sister lives near the southern end of the BRP and I live about 15 miles from the end of Bike Route G across the border in New York.  Doing it all on the recumbent of course...

I live in the Finger Lakes region.  I'm a bit biassed of course but I think it's one of the best regions for cycling in the United States.  Great scenery, great wine and it's not too flooded with tourists yet.  The hills are usually shortish but very steep if you're going east-west instead of north-south.  Camping is plentiful.
