"Vaca", taken from the name Cabeza de Vaca.(means cow, in spanish)

The Spanish conquistador that is the 1st white man crossing the continent(took him 8 yrs).  Named after him, on my X-country trip following his route.

Routes / Southern Tier recommendations for winter
« on: October 12, 2005, 04:40:51 am »
Haha....I don't blame ya.  I just got back from a winter trip on the Souther Route. Didn't quite like TX all that much either, for one thing, every piece of property is fenced and posted... no camping on those properties there.

There are some bright spots, Austin, Hill Country, and taking HW238 through Big Bend National Park and onto Presidio is just beautiful.  And when you are done, you can claim that you climbed the steepest road in TX. :-)  A very less traveled route, but well worth it.  Stop by at Talingua Ghost Town too.

Aside from TX, New Mexico is nice.

Routes / Snow really?
« on: December 10, 2004, 10:44:20 pm »
Thanks all for the info.  Me, myself, and I will also be doing this route starting on the 14th of Dec. from Keywest to San Fancisico.  I was thinking of bring my passport and go through Mexico for something a little warm.  But it looked like things should be OK.

Maybe I'll prob. bump in to you all on the road. :-)

Thanks again,

Lawrence
