Hi Pao,

I have ridden the CA coast the second week of May and Second week of November, both "off season" times were wonderful.  Minimal traffic and people out and about - that's nice! Also, pretty decent weather both times.  The May trip saw only 1 rain day (maybe just good luck) Both trips had either a side or tail wind going North to South.  In May, we were the first tourists that the park rangers had seen, it being a bit early in the warm season.

Howdy!  Looking for some ideas for a tour around Temecula, CA, including some winery stops and camping.  Two nights?

Just gettin' started, so I figured I would start here, one of my favorite places to start planning!

Thanks!

Hi All!  Well, I'm glad to have sparked a good Prague conversation to say the least!  I've been in Costa Rica, than Utah and am just now catching up!  I wanted to send some shout outs!  Frank, thanks for the email offer, I might take you up on that!  Westinghouse, I really appreciate our honesty and all the details of your adventure, VERY HELPFUL.(thank you for the offer to let me request journal info!) Russ and Geeg,  Details, details...I love them. Definitely going to check out the Michelin map for camp spots.  Like Robenne, I will definitely be looking for camping opportunities.  Also, thank you for both for detailing the rural area descriptions...Exactly what I was wanting to hear!

Hi All,  My boyfriend is very experienced in bicycle sales, management, mechanics, advocacy, and outreach.  In addition Shawn has many years experience in both mountain and road riding and of course, bicycle touring!  He also has experience in other outdoor recreation activities, i.e., camping and hiking.  We would really appreciate it if anyone out there has any information on jobs in California! (Ideally, So Cal.)  Thank You.

Any of these used or new.

Ebay is always an option, but finding one this way is a lot more attractive.

Routes / Prague to...
« on: November 28, 2008, 03:08:44 pm »
Beginning planning phase of a trip starting in Prague or ending in Prague.  My boyfriend and I have friends living the Czech Republic so a visit would be in order at the beginning of the trip or the end. Unclear of the distance, but open to just about any length of time! time of year would be late spring early summer of 2009- Self supported and camping nightly would be our preference with a couple days of hotels if we need the R & R!  Does anyone have any cycling experience in this part of the world? Possible tours completed? and just about any information you guys have that would be helpful!! With the research I've done so far...it looks like Vienna to Prague sounds interesting.  But I think a longer trip would be great.  Also, if there are other posts on ACA regarding such a trip please let me know, so you don't have to repeat yourselves.

Routes / Big Sur fire effects?
« on: October 09, 2008, 08:50:12 pm »
Just found this...might help if you plan on camping in Pfeiffer or Julia.

Alerts and Important Information
Pfeiffer Big Sur is closed to all camping, hiking and day use effective October 6, 2008. As a result of extensive burn damage from the wildfire, Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park will be closed this winter to prepare for potential catastrophic winter flooding and landslides. The campground bridges will be removed in anticipation of mudslides and debris flows. The day use area and trails will be closed due to construction and potential flooding and safety concerns. Depending upon the outcome of the winter events, it is our goal to put the bridges back in and re-open the park for camping and day use in late spring 2009.

Alternate state parks in the area are Limekiln SP and San Simeon SP. Additionally, there may be alternate camping in the Big Sur area at several of the nearby private campgrounds (www.bigsurcalifornia.org). Please check the California State Parks web page for updates next spring (www.parks.ca.gov).

Group Camps A and B have been closed permanently.

Well, actually we started cycling in Ferndale and ended our adventure in Jenning! Awesome trip! Anyway, anyone looking for advise on our route? We followed the ACA map (crescent city to SF) We completed the ride about a week and a half ago. There are a few changes to be made regarding campgrounds, road conditions, alternate routes ect. that I will make known to adventure cycling this week. If anyone is curious sooner, let me know! Bern
