Routes / Altoona PA to Raleigh NC

Planning trip from Altoona, PA to Raleigh NC.  Staying in hotels. 60 + miles/day. Spring 2022.
google maps has 3 options: 1) Directly south (400 miles); Altoona, Cumberland MA, Harrisonburg, Waynesboro, Oxford, raleigh
2) S-East (416 miles); Altoona, Cumberland, Winchester, Culpepper, Amelia court house, South Hill, Oxford, Raleigh.
3) More easterly; Altoona, Hancock, Leesburg VA, Manassa, Belmont then Rt 522 as in #2.
Any suggestions?  Problem with route #1 seems to  be hotel access.

Dear group:  I'm interested in riding from Altoona Pennsylvania to Raleigh, North Carolina.  Can you suggest best route? (especially south of Winchester, Virginia).  thank you.  cjh

Routes / Re: Independence pass

I did the pass five years ago, therefore, my recollection may not be accurate.  The pass is gorgeous, not dangerous.  There are some hairpin turns where the shoulder is limited, otherwise, quite beautiful.  Chilly at the top with snow (even in July when I was there).  It is long (several hours) and the elevation is constant.  I only went to top then turned around back to Aspen.  The route is simple--get all supplies in Aspen--no place to stop along the way and no indicators as to the remaining distances.  Good luck.

Routes / routes in pennsylvania/New York

I am planning a trip from Altoona, Pennsylvania to New York City.  Does anyone have a specific route they can recommend?  My thoughts are from Altoona to Lewisburg, to Hazleton, to Stroudsburg onto to Manhattan.  If anyone can help with any portion of that proposed route, please give me your feedback.  all suggestions welcome.  thank you
