Has anyone ridden Rte 20 across New York state. What's it like, have you a personal opinion of it that you can share? I'm considering using it on my Coast to coast and would like to know what it's like? Traffic? Hilly? anything at all....thx.

I'm with BostonMc on this one. I too will leave Boston and head to San Francisco.....and I get a buzz of leaving the known behind me and into the unknown ahead of me. BostonMc have you a daily diary or anything planned for your trip?

Routes / South East Oregon

Thx for the tips people. The 26 does look the better route for logistical reasons and i'm now leaning towards that and then onto the 126 for the Pacific. Then just head south for San Francisco.

Planning my ride  comming through Idaho from Boise into SE Oregon the question is how sparse and barren is it in SE Oregon along Rte 20 towards Burns, then Bend. My final destination will be San Francisco and I'm undecided either to continue to the Pacific coast and head south or go via Klamath Falls. Is there ACA maps available for SE Oregon? Has anyone done this route?

Thx for the tip erniegrillo !!  I'm starting to get the immpression it is aceptable in the barren western states to ride the interstates, except around large urban areas that is. I guess asking the local law enforcement about it when there is also a good idea?
