my wife and i just rode that same stretch. we met up w/ one of the construction supervisors in Marshfield during a break. he said that as long as there's no heavy equipment moving near the crossing, or cranes lifting materials that cyclists may (carefully) cross. the detour for the bridge closest to hartville is over 20 miles. there are currently three bridges out between hartville and walnut grove.
