Gear Talk / Temperatures on the Northern Tier?
« on: May 20, 2012, 09:56:32 pm »
Hi,
My partner and I will be riding across from Massachusetts to Oregon via the Northern Tier and the Lewis and Clark Routes. We will be leaving MA in mid-June.   I am wondering how cold it gets?  (I have some issues with cold.)  Any specific recommendations on clothes to bring?
Thanks,

Thanks everyone for your thoughts.  The iodine pills sound like a reasonable back up plan.

Gear Talk / Do I need a water filter
« on: May 10, 2012, 06:36:06 am »
Hi,
My partner and I will be doing the Northern Tier connecting to Lewis and Clark and then down the Pacific coast.  Do I need to get a water filter?  I am thinking not, that there will be water along the way. . .  Any thoughts?  And if so, which one should I get?
Thanks!

Connecting ACA Routes / Dickinson ND to Glendive MT
« on: May 08, 2012, 10:31:36 am »
Hi,
I may just be stupid, but could someone tell me if there is a map that shows how to go from Dickinson ND to Glendive MT?  I am trying to connect the Northern Tier to the Lewis and Clark routes.  Thanks.
Cheers,
Hirakukibou

We will be traveling West (leaving from Massachusetts, going to Western MA, then to Rochester NY where we join the Northern Tier).

Would love to have detailed directions!  Thanks so much to both of you for your advice.

Hi all,
My partner and I are going from Boston to Rochester then hooking up with the Northern Tier Route.  However, we don't want to go into Canada.  Is there a way to avoid it?  Would be interested in advice.
Thanks.
