On a 2015 tour up the North Sea Cycle Route I had good results using the Danhostel chain of hostels.
Reservations are a good idea in the summer.

I rode my bike from Rome, Italy to Amsterdam this summer. The only part of the route that was not cycle friendly was a small part of Central Italy. Switzerland, Austria, Germany and The Netherlands were all cycle friendly. I used the Eurovelo website to plan part of my routes. There was a good amount of camping along the way. The Swiss Alps were BY FAR the most amazing riding that I have ever done. Let me know if you have any questions.

That sounds like a great ride, Do you have a web site or blog that discribes your route. I would be interested in learning more about your ride with a view of riding it myself. In 2015 I did a route from Amsterdam to Stockholm mostly along the North Sea Cycle route, best experience ever.

Welcome to the group, would you be able to provide me with some touring advice.

I'm trying to plan a cycling tour for the summer of 2017. I intend to ride south down the Weser route and continue along that route as it becomes the D9. Then I will turn west at Niedeaula and ride along the D4 also known as the Millelland Route to Bonn.

Can you comment on the D4, would 32 mm tires be suitable ? Is the cycling route separate from the road and is it a paved surface? Is the availability of tenting sites and food sources good? In your opinion is it a good sightseeing and exploring route ?
Any other comments are welcome.
Kind regards

I just bought a Garmin Edge Touring for a trip to Europe. I found out it come with USA/Canada maps installed. I am thinking of ordering the Garmin Europe City Maps. Does anyone know if the Euro Velo maps routes are includes in the Europe maps or would I need to add them myself?
