Classifieds / BoB Trailer "Better than New" !
« on: December 09, 2023, 07:33:59 am »
Hello all,
After 4+ decades of touring I am hanging up my helmet.
All of my gear will be posted here over the next few weeks.
________________________________________________
BoB Trailer
Complete "frame off" restoration and upgrades.
There was nothing mechanically wrong with the trailer but it had a lot of scratches and just didn't look as good as the rest of my gear.
My touring rig has been bomb proof and is over built, erring on the side of reliability and durability over featherweight components, I did the same here.
I completely disassembled it, bead blasted the original black powder coating off down to bare metal.
Frame and yolk were internally flooded with Boeing Boeshield T9 for corrosion resistance.
Bore scope in the tubes looked great, this was just a precaution and I had the materials on hand , so why not do it?
Then I primed it ready to be sprayed to match my bike. (still in primer)
The stock wheel was a generic 24? spoke with a blah hub and QR.
I built up a velocity 32h wheel for it with custom ordered WheelSmith spokes and a Shimano gen-hub for additional charging capability and got a Salsa QR for it.
Original wheel is also included as well as a spare tube.
It is also fitted with a Schwalbe touring tire with thorn resistant tube.
All of these parts are brand new as I have not needed the trailer since the rebuild (and it is still in primer paint)
This is currently in Massachusetts. Base pick up price is $450. Contact me and we can work together on shipping
I can send pix if you are interested

Classifieds / Original Greg Siple Art (late 70's early 80's)
« on: June 06, 2023, 07:28:08 am »
Hello all,
I acquired this piece at auction many years ago.
I immediately recognized it as a Greg Siple for obvious reasons.
Having been a lifelong tourist and member of Bikecentennial all the way through today I really wanted this for my office.
It has hung proudly in my office where I could see it everyday, but now that I'm older and moving to smaller digs, it's time to pass this on.
Size is appx.15.5 x 21.5 for the piece itself. The frame, matte and UV protectant glass are too difficult/expensive to ship so are not included.
Piece will be lightly rolled and packed carefully for you to frame as you wish.
This is a delightful piece of work and makes me smile every time I look at it because I know what each of the "accessories" is for and why they are there : )

The plaque that came with this was misplaced during the framing process so sadly is lost to time. The image of it is from the original auction house listing.
I do not know who the original recipient of this was  or what they did to get such a lovely gift from the Bikecentennial team, but I know they must have been truly special.

This really is a piece of Adventure cycling from nearly the days of inception. I doubt anyone at the time would have thought that 40+ years later it would be what it is today.
I am still proud to be a member.

If you want to be the steward of this piece of ACA history, contact me for price , priority preference WILL be given to long standing ACA members and ACA staff.

Routes / New Rt 66 tour anyone ?
« on: February 27, 2015, 02:29:18 pm »
Looking forward to a new ACA route to ride. Wondering if anyone is planning to do it this first season. I'm this close (holds fingers almost together) to scrapping my current plans and doing this one westbound. Any like minded folks?
