Hi All,

I just thought I would post my blog for the trip I did cycling from Paris to Rome via the Euro Velo 6 and Via Francigena routes in case it would be of help to anyone wanting to plan something similar!

General Discussion / Warmshowers issues?

Sorry if this has been posted on here before, but is anyone else having trouble accessing Warmshowers? Particularly using the app? (My phone just said that the app no longer exists?)

General Discussion / Flying international with bicycles
« on: January 11, 2019, 12:55:22 am »
Hi all - sorry if this has been covered already in another post, but I'm working on planning a trip biking from Paris to Rome next fall and trying to gather information on flying with bicycles. Is packing up in cardboard boxes and checking them as luggage an acceptable option? Are there extra fees to be expected?

Thanks so much!

So glad you enjoyed it!  Makes all that ridiculous time I spent matching  those photos to the music worth it :-)

I used Red Barn Bikes which is not exactly in Yorktown, but it's a nice ride from there to Yorktown as a warm-up.  And they picked me up from the airport in Richmond!

Super awesome and highly recommend it!

General Discussion / Transamerica (and tiny bit Northern Tier) video
« on: April 03, 2016, 11:16:41 am »
Hi All ~ I know when I was getting ready to do the Transamerica last year it was helpful to watch some of the videos people put together using photos and video clips from their trip.  If nothing else, it was at least inspiring.
So I made mine from my trip last summer!  Just thought I'd post in case it might help anyone prepping for the trip, or someone who wants to relive theirs a little.

From a solo woman cyclist's point of view (who didn't find herself very solo as it turns out)

Another vote for Kansas.  I rode the TransAm east-west last summer and did mine after a rest day in Newton at the famed bike shop.  So from Newton to Larned (111 miles)  I had a perfect weather condition that day so that helped a lot though.

Routes / cycling from Seattle to Weiser, Idaho (route help!)
« on: March 21, 2016, 06:31:58 pm »
Hi All ~  I'm planning on cycling from Seattle to Weiser, Idaho this June and wondering if anyone might be able to help me/ give tips on the best route to get there.  I've done a basic google maps search and it has me riding a bit on I-90 (around snoqualmie....) would love to avoid that if possible!  Also, does anyone have experience with the Iron Horse trail?  I've got 32 cc Schwalbe Marathon tires on my bike which worked great last summer for biking the Transamerica, but I don't know how they would do on that trail.

Thanks!
