There's a reason the trees in Wyoming all lean to the southeast!

Here's another helpful real-time wind and weather site: http://mesowest.utah.edu/index.html

I use one of these SPF-35 jerseys. http://www.boure.com/8605sv.html The fabric breaths well and is quite cool as long as there's air flow.

This link will take you to information about Utah roads. In general, you can ride freeways outside of the major metro areas, although there may be better roads for cyclist.

Feel free to PM me if you have specific questions about Utah. Maybe I can help, maybe not!

Gear Talk / Re: Click driving me nuts

The unfindable click on my Americano turned out to be the left pedal. Not loose, just not tight enough.

I also had a pair of shoes with clipless cleats that developed a click when climbing hard. Something flexing in the cleat backing plate. New shoes fixed that. New cleats did not.

I have the IRD cassette and I've never been happy with the shifting. I continue to use it because of that 34 tooth cog, but I've never been able to get it shifting consistently.

My local shop is experimenting to see if my Ultegra shifters are compatible with the new Sram XX 10 speed cassette. I'm not sure if I'm hoping for success or failure, given the price of the Sram!

Good for you! I've had mine almost three years and still think it's a great bike.

Southern Utah is really, really hot in the middle of the summer! Be prepared. It's much nicer in the fall.

I rode through the Park last fall. Bikes and pedestrians are not allowed in the long tunnel above the S Curve, but the rangers will help you find a ride through.

Traffic is normally backed up at the tunnel and provides lots of opportunity to ask pickup truck drivers for a lift through the tunnel. The ride through the Park is SPECTACULAR and well worth the small hassle of that one tunnel.
