Gear Talk / Re: Who makes decent rain gear....

Showers Pass out of Oregon! Switched to their rain gear about 5 years ago and it solved my rain problems. On my cross-state rides I don't stop if it is raining and I have ridden all day in their gear and been impressed with its waterproofing and interior temp is tolerable. Construction quality is great and they make a universal head covering cut so you have vision side to side. Adventure Cycling handles it.

Routes / Re: Katy Trail riding conditions?

Rode the trail last June, it is packed for the most part. Rain can be a pain, I was riding 700x32 touring tires. Your speed also depends upon the traffic, I rode it through the week which cut down on trail traffic. It was also early season and they were working on the trail, tractors pulling rollers to compact the route. You will have a great time, don't miss all the great places to eat.

Small wheels front and rear really make me a bit nervous for long distance riding. I love the feel of the larger rear wheel. I do appreciate knowing there are some used Rans our there.

Suggestions for finding a used Rans Stratus Standard somewhere in the states surrounding Illinois? I'm having a real hard time finding these.
