« on: October 07, 2016, 12:52:13 pm »
Hi everyone, well I have a little experience in this sport, but I absolutely love it. When I was a kid, i remember I could spend all afternoon crossing the closest streets around the house. Then I went to collage and a few years ago started to riding almost all weekends.

I was thinking on make this more big, I would like to travel other countries with my bike. Has anyone of you started like me? with no clue! :-\

I would like to know Europe, some experience you want to share?

California / Planning my first trip to California
« on: July 08, 2016, 05:36:22 pm »
Hi everyone, I'm planning next summer make my first trip along the pacific ocean route running the San Francisco, CA to Santa Barbara, CA. I've heard that this is one of the most outstanding routes to discover marine wildlife, big trees, big waves and beautiful beaches.

We had made some other trips but none like this one, so I'm asking for some advises if someone of have taken this route before. A friend told me to first took a shuttle to lax to get our bikes with us, and then get to Santa Barbara to start our adventure.

This is what we are planing to roll, we have almost a year to make it real, but first we want to collect all the information we can about safety and places to stay on our way, Also, if somebody know a easy and cheaper way to get we will appreciate your advice.

Thanks a lot, I hope coincide with any of you in any way  "

General Discussion / Re: Is this considered bikepacking?
« on: July 08, 2016, 05:02:39 pm »
Im pretty sure even a short trip no matter if you stay in a hotel or a Hike&Bike place, is considered for me as bikepacking, what it matter is that you have fun and live the adventure, but I cant denied that the more natural environment you can make the more exited it will be

I think this is very good progress for those who practice this sport. In San Diego we have routes for cyclists highly respected, even across the border in the area of Rosarito and Ensenada B.C. MX, drivers respect cyclists, its clear that here we do not have much traffic as in a larger city.

Urban Cycling / Re: Advice for New York city
« on: March 22, 2016, 07:45:04 pm »
Hi. I'm finishing a coast to coast ride next week (probably on Tuesday 8 September) in New York. Does anyone have any good tips/suggestions/routes for riding into the city, ending up in Manhattan?

In particular, is there a good way to come through the suburbs from the west or north west?

Many thanks

Hi, there is a beautiful rout name Manhattan Waterfront Greenway. The longest is the Hudson River Greenway, running along the West Side, from Dyckman Street in the north to Battery Park in the south, mostly through Hudson River Park and Riverside Park, with a small gap in West Harlem where users must use streets.

This is the most heavily used bikeway in the United States. Most is near Hudson River water level, except the portion north of George Washington Bridge where it climbs to approximately 160 feet (50 meters) and includes Inspiration Point.

Sometimes you have to book a private transportation service, particulary I use this one https://shuttlewizard.com/. Book ahead of time and tell them you will be traveling with oversize luggage, they will be able to provide the right vehicle for your needs. Also be conscious of your arrival time - arriving at 2am vs. 11am, can effect your transportation options. Hope this work for you!
