Gear Talk / 2010 Novara Randonee - Slack Head Tube Angle
« on: March 26, 2010, 09:07:03 am »
I am considering purchasing a 2010 Randonee.  I noticed that the geometry has changed since from the 2009 Randonee.  It seems the 2010 has a slacker head tube angle and a shorter top tube.  Due to the slacker head tube (I think the fork rake is the same), how will the 2010 bike handle compared to the 2009 model?

Gear Talk / Computer Install Question on LHT - Placement on Spoke
« on: April 24, 2009, 08:13:01 am »
I realize this is a dumb question, but I am dumb so I qualify to ask it.

When you install a bike computer, you have to enter the size of the tires.  My LHT is 26 x 1.5 tires.

Warming, here comes the dumb question . . . I realize the sensor has to be close to the thing-a-ma-giggy to get a reading

Will the computer give different readings based on where the sensor is installed (I'm talking closer to the hub versus closer to the rim)?  Meaning, if I install the sensor and ride.  Later on, I move the sensor down 3 inches.  Will the readings be different?

Gear Talk / Pedal Suggestions for Soft Soled Shoes?
« on: April 22, 2009, 12:37:10 pm »
I have a LHT and I am looking for pedals.  No current upcoming tours, so just talking a charity ride or something similar.  I am NOT using clipless pedals at this time, just a normal bicycle pedal.

Currently, I have just been riding with normal tennis shoes.  However, my feet are really sore the next day.  Is there any type/style of pedal that is better with softer soled shoes?

Also, I want to find a shoe with a more firm sole.  I have wide feet and sometimes have trouble finding shoes.  I tried some Lake "wide" shoes and they are not wide enough.  Anybody know of hiking type shoes that come in wide sizes?  Or can anyone suggest a tennis shoe or all-terrain shoe that has firmer soles?  I find many times that a size that just says "WIDE" versus 3E or 4E, etc it usually is not wide enough.

I'll also take advice on finding some wide pedals since my feet are wide.
