General Discussion / Re: Average Weight Loss/Gain on Cross Country Tour
« on: December 20, 2023, 08:30:45 am »
Losing weight during a long-distance hike is a common experience due to the high-calorie burn and limited resupply options. In contrast, cross-country riders may have different dietary requirements and access to more diverse food options, potentially resulting in weight maintenance or gain. Each journey differs, and personal factors play a role, though.

General Discussion / Re: US dogs

I had two dogs and I'm sure that the dog's behavior depends on how it was trained. This is the owner's responsibility.
When we understood that we didn't succeed in training, we addressed a professional. It was easy to find a trainer at in our area. I should say, that our dogs needed fewer lessons than we expected.

Gear Talk / Re: roll up solar panel
« on: October 26, 2023, 05:23:59 am »
Solar panels are not efficient
I can't agree with you. I have a thin-film rv solar panel that I use for various purposes (RVing, boating, camping, etc.). It is designed to flex and adjust to any surface and it works great. Moreover, it is very convenient that you can take it everywhere and it takes less place.

Oh yeah .... with fall having arrived ....
here is another of my fav.s ...
fallen leaves from time to time crunching under the tires.
Also, hearing the squirrels scampering about those fallen leaves,
as they are accumulating their food stores for the coming winter.
Oh, I also like the sound of the fallen leaves crunching under the tires! Moreover, everything is beautiful around. I'm looking forward to this time of the year :)

What did you end up doing? I'm in the same boat. My older son is too big for a bobby cart, and I'm thinking about buying one of those ride-on cars for 2 seaters.

Sorry for bumping. Just curious if you still use those cameras and how many people switched to their phones.
If you still use a camera, which one?

Did you find the solution? I'm currently suffering from neck pain and I wonder whether anyone else faced this problem?

Gear Talk / Re: Sandals for colder climate?
« on: September 20, 2023, 08:32:50 am »
I had such an experience once. We decided to go cycling with camping for a weekend. When we got up in the morning it was much colder than we expected, so I had to ride wearing sandals with wool socks. I can't say it was the most comfortable ride, but it was fine. And we were lucky not to have rain that day. Later, I looked through the dhgate reviews here and ordered an additional pair of clipless shoes, just in case.

General Discussion / Re: Neck, arms and hands fatigue?
« on: September 16, 2023, 01:03:33 pm »
I should say, this is a common problem. I know several people who faced it.
If your bike is well-fitted but you are still having pain, take a look at how you are holding the bars. Consciously relax your hands, soften your elbows and drop your shoulders, and try to avoid gripping the bars too tightly. Your wrists should be relaxed and not overly flexed or extended.
Fortunately, it can be solved and it is not that serious as cyclist syndrome, for example, that requires treatment. There are multiple routes of treatment including medical management comprised of medications (I already checked the info about them on the Canada Drugs site), invasive interventions such as surgery, injections, and neuro-modulation, as well as non-invasive or conservative therapy consisting of pelvic health physical therapy.
So, it is better to take care of your health and pay attention to all the needed details when cycling.

My wife also needs to follow a gluten-free diet. We should get used to it and organize the proper buying process. currently, we order the needed products primarily online but it would be great to know other places. Thanks for sharing. Any updates are appreciated though.

It's a pity nobody replied here. I'm currently looking for good international health insurance. And it would be great if someone shared their experience. Thanks in advance.
