Gear Talk / Re: Solar Panel - Yea or Nay?
« on: July 01, 2013, 10:51:17 pm »
I wanted to eliminate the daily search for batteries...  Or to be looking where I could plug in my chargers.... An after many many moons of :-) disappoint with what is out there....  Last year I bought a solar charger that does it all....   GOALZERO NOMAD    it is worth every penny.      Good luck

having a food allergy my self...
i have always wanted to know about other cyclists who also have food allergies
and how they deal with their food allergy issues while touring...
as for me i am celiac...
so i have to stay away from any gluten foods
and all that there is out there is nothing but ready available to eat on the spot gluten based food products....big time bummer!
so tips or ideas are what i am looking for
for me stopping along the side of the road with a group to enjoy a big ass cheese burger...that drips down your chin
is not going to happen in my case....
if i close my eyes i can see and taste that cheese burger
do you realize how hard it is to find a gluten free beer?
that cheese burger screams for an ice cold beer along side
i am killing myself here...
we are out grilling a burger on the barbie

i will be 60 in this coming winter
when i was younger i lived on my road racing swiss made 10 speed....
it was a gas....
going as fast as you could....
took a few tumbles....
back in the fall of 2002 i bought a trek full suspension mtb
i wanted a full suspension for the comfort....
you know the drill ....all of the little aches and pains
after fussing around with the bike since then...
going on daily rides...
smelling the fresh air....
watching the asphalt or dirt wizz bye
sweating up a storm
feeling good..
i started looking into ultra-lite bicycle equipment
such as frame bags
handlebar harness , etc...
so after a couple of hundred smackers
i had a complete ultra-lite set up custom made for my trek fuel
now i have this dream
of hitting the open road
my total weight that i will be carrying is 35 lbs
i will be totally self supported..
i had my bags made by this guy out of alaska   www.epicdesignsalaska.com
check out his equipment that he makes...
be safe

i have been down your trail.....
after going the tire rubbing generator way.....
and the planet wazoo handle bar blinkey.....
i broke down and bought a helmet light ...
that can also be used as a handle bar light....
from dinotte.com.....
google it.....
cost about 150 smackers
but it is like having a little reactor on your head ....
it lights up the road....
and where ever you turn your head
this bad boy lights up everything
