I'm signed up for the Sept LEJOG with CTC.  Being from the U.S., I'm trying to find where best to fly into for easy transport to Penzance/Land's End and fly out of after finishing at JOG/Inverness (triangle/open jaw route?).  I'll be carrying my coupled bike in 2 suitcases -- has anyone done something similar?  Any thoughts/ideas/experiences would be MUCH appreciated.

Hi Kurt,
Yes, this is the 59 C-T. No the case is not included. I use a pair of them for my tandem. Try as I might, I can't get photos small enough to fit the restrictions of this site. Send me your email and I'll send them along.

Hi Kurt,

I have a '93 Bridgestone XO-3 f/f (lugged) with S&S couplers. I measure it as a 57 C to C.  This uses a 26" wheel.  I rode it last year on the Banff to Whitefish part of the Great Divide route.  I'd sell it for $500 + s/h.

I can send photos if you're interested.

By the looks of your other posts,  you're probably just finishing your Southern Tier adventure with the trike.  Hope you had a great  trip.

I'd like to take a look at your bike if possible.  I live in Lisbon, near Norwich.  How do we connect?

Just wanted you to know how well you planned your trip -- I tried to sign up for the March departure and found out I was number 12 on the waiting list !  I've since signed up for the September self-contained trip so I'll at least get it done in 2010 :-)

Happy pedaling,

BTW, I'm reading "Conquering the Borderlands," a Southern Tier account,  by Lorraine Veisz (in the ACA store) and finding it excellent.

Classifieds / Re: WTB: Beckman tandem panniers
« on: October 15, 2009, 11:23:15 am »

I have two pair of Beckman tandem panniers (front & rear) that I've had for a number of years.  They're still in good shape.  We used them on our tandem for several trips.  They come with (optional) rain covers.  I also have front and rear Bruce Gordon racks that the panniers were used on.  If my (possibly faulty) memory serves, prices new were $375, $325, $150, $125.  I'd like $225 plus s/h for the lot.  If you're interested in pictures, I can accommodate.

I did the Great Hudson Valley Pedal ( last year with this organization and rate them highly.  It's definitely "family friendly" with all age groups represented.  It has the whole pedaling gamut, rural country with little traffic, gravel in the 13 mile, skinny Palisades State Park, pedaling across the George Washington Bridge, a few blocks of streets in NYC, the Hudson River Trail along Manhattan's west side to the finish -- memories hard to forget.

Wow, I looked at Amazon and copies go for $49.89-$179.91 !

I've got a copy that doesn't even look like I opened it (very good condition).  I'll sell you mine for $33 shipping included.

My wife and I enjoyed our 3 week tandem tour a couple years ago and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to cyclotourists.  We did have a bit of trepidation at riding the left side of roads but got used to it fairly quickly.  Enjoy your trip and planning!
