I have ridden this entire route and did not experience any of the problems mentioned.  Mosquitoes and gnats were the worst issue.  Prepare for some challenging terrain at the north end of the island, and for some long stretches without services.

Can anyone suggest the best route and camping options through Vancouver, BC from Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal to Sumas, WA (start of Sierra Cascades) and/or to Hope, BC?

Connecting ACA Routes / Northern Tier to Lewis and Clark via Coeur d'Alene, ID

Any comments about linking these two routes from Newport, WA to Clarkston/Lewiston, ID via Coeur d'Alene, ID using ID-41 and ID-95?  Any recommended alternatives? Thanks.
