Pacific Northwest / Requesting advice on the safest route from Spokane to Sandpoint

I have read that Idaho State Route 41 has no shoulders and has plenty of RV traffic this time of year.   Would it be safer taking U.S. 395/2 north out of Spokane or heading east towards Coeur d'Alene and then north on U.S. 95?

Hello - I have learned from reading The Northern Tier Book not to take Idaho State Route 41.  Looks like my only other options are either U.S. 2 north out of Spokane, or travel east to Coeur d'Alene and go north on U.S.95. 
Any thoughts on which of these has the widest shoulders (if any) and the least traffic?  
Or, perhaps there is another approach shot of which I am unaware?

Hello - Looking for education on the traffic levels & existence (or lack there of :- )/width of shoulders?  I am trying to get a sense of what it takes along that stretch to avoid mixing it up with a motor vehicle.

Hello CLM,
Would encourage you to give Don Weaver's B & B (above post) a try, though it is about 10 miles west of the states' line in just south of Piedmont, AL.
Meanwhile, recognizing your main interest in camping... the only campsite of which I am aware is call The Rock ( www.TheRockRVPark.com ). The Rock is a few miles east of Rockmart, GA about 1/4 t 1/2 mile south of the SCT... you may encounter a couple hundred yards of hardpacked gravel getting to this rv/tent camp location.  I have never stayed there; however, the owner, Johnny, and I have spoken several times by phone and gives the impression of being accomodating.

WANTED: ATLANTA to KNOXVILLE RIDER(s).

The NATIONAL BICYCLE GREENWAY (NBG)
[ http://NationalBicycleGreenway.com  ] has been building support  for its vision of a  bicycle interstate since 1987.
For the last three years, it has been using its Mayors' Rides to connect population centers across America with worthy bike routes.
This year, for the first time, their route comes through the Atlanta to Knoxville area.
Rider(s) will leave the Atlanta City Mayor's office and head by a route of your choosing (approx. 300 miles or  60 miles per day over 5 days if you don't ride on either NBG-MAYOR MEETING Day) to the Mayor of Knoxville, TN's office, Friday, April 29 to Thursday, May 5, respectively.
