I am going there this May with my bride of 30 years to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. Living a mixed marriage (cyclist, non cyclist) I know I can only do some short day rides.  We will be staying in the Jaco area, any of you world travelers have any suggestions of places to ride in that area?

Andy there are alot of chargers out there however other then ni cad batteries most other rechargibles do not like trickle charging in fact they won't charge.  However technology is always changing so there might be something out there.

General Discussion / Where this year?

Yikes! I have been found out.  I ask questions that are opened ended mainly because of the wealth of information I get. I'm realtively new to touring and the info I get from other riders is far better then any touring book I can buy.  As far as my touring plans are I have so many places in my home state of Washington that I haven't seen that I am concentrating on these. My next trip will be from my back door to Astoria Oregon.  This will be later in the year.  Also I belong to the Cascade Bicycle club and they do an annual ride from Seattle to Vancouver, BC every year so I can't miss that.  I'll be celbrating my 30 year wedding anniversary so I think I'm going on a cruise.  No bicycles on this one but if my bride is happy I'll be happy. So that's pretty much my plans

See if you can find a copy of the book BICYCLING THE PACIFIC COAST.  It has direction from Vancouver BC to the Mexican boarder, don't forget Adventure cycling maps they have direction for going North and South and are excellent.  At that time of year I bet I don't have to tell you to have some good rain gear.  Have the time of your life and be safe.

General Discussion / train travel with BOB the trailer
« on: September 17, 2006, 12:20:13 am »
I am planning a ride down the Washington coast to Oregon this spring.  I have decided to take a train to my start point.  It seems like I can take my bicycle on the train with me but looks like I will have to check BOB in. I am wondering what precaution I should take in transporting BOB.

You might consider buying your food on the road, I read somewhere not to carry more then one day's food with you.  Unless you are really in the boonies you should be able to find stores.  I know what you are going through seems like when you take one item you feel you need three other things to go with it.  The best advice I have read is if you have toured before and you didn't use the stuff you brought on that trip leave it home.  Best of luck to you on your ride.  Jim

General Discussion / Pacific Coast Route
« on: September 15, 2006, 01:43:17 am »
Jean I don't know of any organized tours but if you have a chance pick up a book called (Bicycling the Pacific coast).  It covers the route from Vancouver, BC to the Mexican Boarder. I live near Seattle, Washington and have been toying with the idea of riding at least to Northern California next year.  If I hear of any tours I'll let you know.  Jim

That's a good price and they are a good bike.  My T2000 which is the same frame as the T800 is five years old and still is going strong.  You'll not regrest you bought it.
