Classifieds / Great Divide/L&CTrail Maps-Sell &/or Swap
« on: August 28, 2008, 09:16:35 am »
1. New, never used Great Divide maps 1, 2, 3, 4 (Roosville, MT to Platoro, CO) - $35
2. Lewis and Clark mapset - all maps, 1-8, (missing panels #106, #107 and #108 (Astoria to Roosevelt)- gave to westbound rider as we crossed paths; that part of route follows Columbia River) - all in great condition, maps 1-5 weren't even used) - $55
I'd like to sell both sets and/or acquire the Great Parks mapset for both + cash, or make some offer.

I'm looking for a used pair of front, low-rider,
panniers.  Ortlieb preferred, but will consider other
brands for a reasonable price.

Classifieds / touring shoes
« on: December 02, 2005, 07:58:15 am »
I posted a notice here a long time ago about touring shoes.  I'd love to find a few pairs of the old pre-SPD-style shoes.  I'm still using the pair of Avocet Cycling 20 shoes I bought for my first touring experience in 1989.  Made specifically for touring, no holes in the bottom, slide into toe-clip pedals neatly with grooved sole securing position.  For years, I've looked in every country I pedal through to no avail.  Any clues out there?

Gear Talk / real (old-fashioned) touring shoes
« on: June 11, 2004, 12:29:11 pm »
Sean,
Thank you. I just checked out xxcycle.com and those shoes look promising.  There's not a clear picture of the soles and I'd like to see them first-hand.  Would you happen to know of any US catalogs or stores that might have them?

Gear Talk / real (old-fashioned) touring shoes
« on: June 10, 2004, 12:36:58 pm »
I have a very old pair of Avocet touring shoes, i.e., the kind that have a smooth soul except for 5 ridges that "slot" easily into toe-clip pedals.  I've looked EVERYWHERE - in bike and sports shops in the many countries in which I've ridden and in every catalog I've seen - to find these perfect touring shoes, to no avail.  Any help here?
A related topic: does anyone know of touring shoes that are also waterproof (in and of themselves, without having to pull something over them)?  Text

Well - so much for the oatmeal.  Now we're all experts.  What about the shuttles?  I'd like to know the answer to that one, too.
