The waypoints are only updated with permanent changes to the route. I do not believe that this is a permanent change.

Thanks for taking a look at the apps! We don't currently have turn by turn cue sheet functionality built into the maps but will keep it in mind for down the road.

Real view is dragging the little guy from the lower right conner to a spot on the route and it shows a current picture of that spot. It puts you at a close up ground level view.

Flying view is supposed to show you the whole route as if flying in an airplane.

Doubt if the names I'm using are correct but don't know what else to call them.

I use to be able to click/hold and drag but now it only seems to work a few times then quits and just moves the whole map around. Google help says something about a "lite mode" that will cause this but I can't find any indication its in "lite mode". Help says a lighting bolt should be seen in the lower left corner in the menu box. Help also shows that a number of people are having the same problem.

Google calls "real view" Street view. I'm not sure about the Flying view.

There is a free version of Locus as well that you can try out and then decided if you are interested enough to invest in the paid version.

I'm sure that there are many others that will work with the data as well. I have not tried using the Ride with GPS app to open the Adventure Cycling Digital Data, but it won't hurt anything to try and see if it works.

Assuming the panniers are nylon (or some marketing name that still means nylon) an iron-on patch is likely to require enough heat to melt the base fabric too.  You can probably find an adhesive backed fabric such as that sold to repair tents and air mattresses that will stick over the hole, preferably on both sides of the pannier's cloth.   You can be sew around it for reenforcement.  Seam sealer can be used to restore water tightness.

I don't have a Garmin Edge Touring Plus to try, but according to the owners manual it looks like you can customize the timer page to show heart rate:

1. From the home screen, select the wrench/screwdriver icon, followed by Trip Pages and then Timer.
2. Use the + or - buttons to change the number of data fields on the page.
3. Select the check mark.
4. Select a data field to change the data type that appears in the field. This is where you would select Heart Rate.
5. Select the check mark.

I found this on page 5 of the owners manual under Customizing the Trip Pages.

Thanks! Interestingly, those are one of the pairs I ended up getting.  I like them, though they are around a half-size too small.  I tried the next size up, but they were a bit loose, so I'll see if I can suffer through the ride with them; hopefully they'll stretch out a bit.

I've had two pairs of different Pearl Izumi mtb shoes and had the same fit issues with both. They do stretch a little over time, but I still wish they were just a touch larger. Overall, I've been happy with these as they allow me to still use spd mtb clips, look similar to a regular tennis shoe and walk pretty well. I really like the regular laces with the pocket in the tongue of the shoe to keep the laces out of the chain.

Everyone has different preferrences, but I've been touring in a pair of these that allow me to use spd cleats, but still walk comfortably when off the bike.
