My apologies to Road Warrior. I thought that name was generated automatically for me for the discussion forum.

I was limited accessing certain sites using my cell phone including ACA. Since I added Opera Mini, I can read discussions and post to forums.

If Amtrak doesn't have a hook for your bicycle, put your bicycle in a bicycle bag and take it as a luggage.  I do that on Greyhound.

You don't need to box your bike on Amtrak.  They have a hook for
bicycles.  Depending on the season, you might have to share the space
with skiers.

General Discussion / Taking bicycles on airlines as baggage
« on: June 22, 2007, 03:08:33 am »
Has anyone taken a bicycle bag on an airline as an oversized bag?  I'm
planning to end my trip in Phoenix, AZ on September 28, 2007. I'm
trying to decide whether to take the bus back to L.A. or fly back to LAX.
The nearest Amtrak station is in Flagstaff, AZ and it would take even
longer to get back to L.A.

I paid $90 to have my bike shipped in a box from El Centro to my
home in Torrance.  Have you ever tried shipping a bicycle in a bag?

Thanks for the information about the cost of shipping a bike in a box.
Have you ever taken your bike in a bag?  I took it on the Greyhound
and it did not cost me extra.  The only problem was that Greyhound
doesn't permit leaving my van in their parking lot for more than 48
hours.  My bicycle trips last 4 days and I took a chance leaving it at the
Greyhound depot.  It was still there when I returned.

General Discussion / Bicycle Insurance
« on: January 29, 2007, 12:18:12 am »
My auto liability insurance covers me if I hit someone else's car or property regardless of what I am driving.  What do I need to consider if I purchase bicycle insurance and do I really need one if I am riding alone?  What happens when I a friend travels with me or if a group decides to go together on the same route?
