Fund raiser road ride from Seattle to Key West
driver/mechanic/physio/coach/internet guru/ PA/friend
It looks like we would be two guys riding.

Car would be provided although someone with a van could be an asset and clearly use of the vehicle would be monetized.

I would pay for lodging/food/flights/plus pocket money.
no preference in age or sex - A big personality and some references essential.

looking forward hearing from you.

Routes / Req: Advice on British Columbia Routes and Sights
« on: May 16, 2005, 11:08:13 am »
I am planning on doing the cross BC ride next year as part of my transcontinental ride.

I would be most interested in having your view on your choice of routes as I am labouring with that one.

I am planning on arriving in Seattle and start the ride there via Olympia Nat park and then V'ver Island
to Calgary and then South through Waterton and Glacier Park.

Good Luck!

Dear Biker James
Please let me ask you some additional questions:
to do the Fraser River route (which my gut tells me is the right way for me)do I take hwy 7 from V'ver to Hope or are there better ways out of town?

Is Hwy 3 overall nicer, more scenic than Hwy 1?
Eventually I would probably go on Hwy 6 and 23 from Castlegar to Revelstoke and then on to Calgary, which seems longer than the Fraser valley route through Kamploops, Golden, Banff.

thanks for your input

Dear Slugbiker
thanks for your valued input.

Just to specify from the Ferry point I would ride
hwy 305, 307?, 104 and 101? to get to Sequim or are there more scenic less trafficed hwy's

As part of my first major leg of my Transcontinental ride I plan on riding from Seattle, Olympia Nat Park,
Vancouver Island through BC to Calgary.

I have read books on 3 routes through BC, either through Whistler, Fraser River canyon or south through the Kootenays.

Through Whistler, I understand 2nd half is a gorgous ride but from V'ver to Whistler road even in summer is
very busy.

Through Fraser River Canyon, I drove once and I remember road was very busy, before the new Turnpike was built. I am leaning towards this choice for the
sheer beauty of the Canyon.

Third choice is along the US boarder, I understand the
Kootenay lakes are beautiful, but I know very little
about the road suitability for cyclists.

I would welcome any info and suggestions.

Thanks

General Discussion / Hi Everyone! A Euro newbie here!

in summer of 2006 I am planning a fundraiser run from Seattle to Key West, via Calgary and Twin Cities.
I am planning to use a support vehicle, probably two bikes and will be looking for a qualified Masseur/se/Driver. Time period May 06 for an estimated 45/60 days.

I am welcoming helpful hints, suggestions, and interest.

General Discussion / Knee injury
« on: January 14, 2005, 10:28:15 am »
I agree, pushing an easier gear usually takes care of the strains and often I cycle through it and it gets much better.

I do ice my knees, which have been battered from a icehockey career, after rides!

Ibuprofen, tylanol on a daily basis to take care of imflamations
