Gear Talk / a Felt?

I'm in the market for a new road bike.  One of the local shops near me recommends the Felt 70.  Having no knowledge on the quality, durability, etc of Felt bikes, I was wondering if anyone out there has input on the pros and cons to the Felt bike line, especially the 60, 65, 70.

General Discussion / Time for New Bike

I'm planning a west coast to east coast tour in the near future.  It's also time for me to consider buying a new bike for this tour.  Price range is hovering near a grand. I'm planning on hauling my gear with a small trailer. Any suggestions on a good touring bike for that price?  Also, would a cyclocross bike be a good alternative to riding those long distances? Any advice is appreciated.
