Connecting ACA Routes / Route from Munising, Mi to Portland, OR

I am new to this website but I can see it is full of people with experience. I am planning on traveling from the U.P. of Michigan to Portland, Oregon. I am looking for a route using secondary roads as much as possible to avoid traffic and congestion. This will also be a fundraising ride. I want this ride to benefit others, not just something I can say I did. Any routes, maps, information, etc. would be appreciated. My target date is the summer of 2008. Thanks!

Gear Talk / Touring tire for mountainbikes

I need a recommendation on what tire to use for touring the country. We will be using mountainbikes with  BOB trailers traveling the Northern Tier which will be pavement. Any 26" tire suggestions would be helpful!

Routes / Getting from Whitefish to Missoula

My friend and I will be traveling East to West on the Northern Tier and we will be finishing in Portland, OR. I was wondering the best way to get on the Lewis and Clark Route from Whitefish, MT. Do we just head South to Missoula and wing it or is there a recommended route that would get us there perhaps via Great Parks Route Section 2? Thanks for the help!

Routes / Northern Tier into Portland, OR

I need your help. I am riding the Northern Tier east to west and I need to get to Portland, OR. Has anyone done this? Does anyone have any information on getting there. What ACA maps would I need or do you have to wing it? Thanks
