Gear Talk / Sandals: Shimano vs. Lake

Anyone have an opinion on Shimano vs. Lake sandals with cleats?  The majority of my riding is touring inspired, non-technical and done on dirt/logging roads.  I’ll do a bit of walking in the sandals and am wondering if they’re more comfortable than your typical cleated shoe or if they’re about the same.  Anyone had a chance to try both?  Which do you prefer?  Are the soles stiff enough?  Also, the second toe on each of my feet it deliciously longer than its neighboring big toe so I’m concerned about the bumper on the Lake model.  I live in rural Alaska and don’t have access to a store where I can try these on so your input is greatly appreciated!
