Thank you all for your advice.  I was hoping to avoid having to reassemble the fenders/racks when I arrive, but I'm thinking now I will simply remove the racks and fenders and ship in an LHT box I can pick up from the shop.  I'll take my lock-tite for reassembly and should be okay.  (The Amtrak schedule doesn't appear to be much better than driving in my car.)  Thank you all!!

I live in Indianapolis and am planning a week-long loop tour in southern Arizona in late February.  I'd like to fly out to Tucson and ship my fully racked and fendered LHT.  Is there any shipping option available where I can ship it without having to remove and reinstall the racks and fenders? Thanks.

Yes Blackbear, I believe you are correct.  I will be plotting my route to Machens and hop on the trail there.  I will ride the trail to St. Charles where I'll pick up the shuttle service to the west end where I will start riding back east.

A BIG Thank You for recommending the Illinois Official Bicycle Maps.  I did not know that Illinois had them.  Indiana does not yet have such maps.  Because of your post, I did a google search and called Illinois DOT and talked with a very helpful and informative woman (who is also a cyclist) who will be mailing the maps to me. Thank you again!!!

I live in Indianapolis and plan to ride the Katy Trail this summer.  I'd like to ride from home to St. Charles, MO, where the Katy Trail starts.  Does anyone have route information from Indianapolis to St. Charles?  Thanks.
