Thanks for the information, it has gotten me back to planning next year's trip.  A little disappointed to find out the only train from Mont-Joli to Ottawa leaves on Saturdays at 1:30 a.m. Usually well into REM by then.

Studying a trip from Ottawa to Mont-Joli.  Want to take a train back to Ottawa.  Not sure how easy that will be, how long it will take and whether we would need to switch trains at all.  Thanks for any help.

I wasn't completely convinced of bikes in bags being allowed.  Then I found this and think they are.

Will be taking Kalman Irme line from Budapest to Munich then ICE to Brussels. Will we need to put bikes in bags? We would rather not carry bags.

Routes / Pacific coast elevations

Early planning for sections 2 through 5, Astoria to Imperial Beach.  Planning on riding the various sections with a rotating crew of varying ability.  Would like some advice on the relative difficulty of each section and any other words of wisdom.
