Routes / Bike Shop Update for Williston, ND

In the Northern Tier, Section 3, #48 map, and the Lewis & Clark, Section 3, # 54, map, a bike shop by name of "Schwinn (at Coast To Coast) 14 W. Broadway, 572-9551" is listed, but it is now closed. 

There is another shop in Williston one can use, if needed:   "Bike & Skate Shop, 1316 2nd Ave. W, Williston, ND; (701) 572-3561."

I discovered this yesterday when attempting to call the Schwinn shop looking for a front bike rack for a family member who is riding through Williston now, but a recording came on and said # was disconnected.  I then did a Google search for another shop when I found Bike & Skate.  I called them; no front bike racks in stock...just rear! They confirmed the Schwinn shop was closed.
 

Just thought I'd give this update for those who might be riding through Williston on the Northern Tier! 

I will contact whomever needed in ACA for map updates as well.

General Discussion / "Support vehicle"

I have seen references here on the forums to "support vehicles" being used by some biker groups.  As someone who wants to go solo on the Northern Tier, I am thinking about having someone I know come along driving a support vehicle.  I presume the vehicle is driven behind, or not too far from the biker.   Can anyone make any suggestions to the use of "support vehicles?"

General Discussion / Safety issues for solo biking

Long distance biking is new to me.  What are the safety precautions (for personal and road) when biking by oneself?  Are certain routes safer than others?    I am considering Portland, OR to Chicago, northern route.
