A four mile section of the route between the left matchline on map 70 and turn B on CR 58 is undergoing reconstruction and is currently unpaved. It is planned to be paved in August 2019.

Highway 1 is being resurfaced between Cayucos and Harmony beginning Monday, April 1. The highway will stay open but there will be short delays and alternating lane closures. See https://www.marketscreener.com/news/California-Department-of-Transportation-3-26-19-Highway-1-Paving-Between-Cayucos-and-Harmony-Beg--28241810/?utm_medium=RSS&utm_content=20190326 for more information.

The bridge has finished earlier than expected and is now open.

On map 4, the bridge over the Jackson River at turn D (Natural Well Rd./CR 638) is closed for construction. The construction is planned to be completed by summer 2019. Use CR 605 as a detour.

The SR 52 bridge over the Wolf River in Lily on map B is undergoing construction. The scheduled completion date is Sept 2018, but it may go longer due to complications. Use SR 55 between Lily and Shawano (on map D) to bypass the bridge.

The Mayport Ferry across the St. Johns River on map 72 is closed for maintenance until October 31, 2018. The detour around this closure goes through downtown Jacksonville and uses a portion of the Jacksonville Airport Access. To view a map of the detour, see https://ridewithgps.com/routes/28535750?beta=false. Use EXTREME caution crossing the Mathews Bridge just east of downtown Jacksonville. It has fast traffic and virtually no shoulder. We recommend riding across it when traffic is very light, or to call a shuttle/taxi. You could also use the Main St. Bridge which has pedestrian sidewalks, but is a little more out of the way.

Here is some more information about this construction:

West of Williams, the interstate is undergoing repairs for 5 miles (between mileposts 156 and 161). Here is the info for this project (Devil Dog to Williams): https://www.azdot.gov/projects/northcentral-district-projects/i-40-devil-dog-to-williams-paving/overview This project is anticipated to finish in fall 2018.

East of Williams, the interstate is undergoing repairs for 17 miles (between mileposts 162 and 179). Here is the info for this project (Cataract Lake Road to Parks): https://www.azdot.gov/projects/northcentral-district-projects/i-40-cataract-lake-road-to-parks-paving. This project is scheduled to finish in late 2019.

There is another portion of the interstate under construction east of Williams for 12 miles (between mileposts 179 and 191). Here is the info for this project (Parks to Riordan): https://www.azdot.gov/docs/default-source/projects/i-40-parks-to-riordan-flier.pdf?sfvrsn=2 This project is scheduled to finish in late spring 2018.

The Newell St. Bridge is closed until October 2018 while construction crews replace the bridge deck. Click here to see the detour: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/28018704

I-40 west of Williams is undergoing construction. All traffic is being diverted to one side of the highway that has been temporarily divided and has one lane going each direction. Because of this, the shoulder is extremely narrow, about a foot at most places. It is expected to be finished by fall 2018.

I-40 on both sides of Williams is undergoing construction. All traffic is being diverted to one side of the highway that has been temporarily divided and has one lane going each direction. Because of this, the shoulder is extremely narrow, about a foot at most places. It is expected to be finished by fall 2018.

Kentucky Transportation has closed a section of SR 359 just north of Morganfield for construction of a new bridge over Lost Creek. When that project is finished, construction work on a new bridge will begin a short distance away on Sinking Creek, also known as Higginson Ditch. We don't recommend cyclists use US 60. It is busy, has a small shoulder and it is rumble stripped. The completion date is targeted for September 30, 2018.
Northbound detour: Im Morganfield, from turn L, ride 0.3 mi. and bear left onto SR 130. Ride 1.9 mi. and turn sharp right onto Hites School Rd. In 0.1 mi., continue straight onto Ben Vize Rd. Ride 1.3 mi. At "T", turn left onto SR 359 and rejoin route.
Southbound detour: Cross SR 141. In 1.6 mi. turn right onto Ben Vize Rd. Ride 1.3 mi. and turn sharp left onto SR 130. Ride 1.9 mi., then bear right onto N. Morgan St./US 60. Rejoin route.

Highway 80 will be closed 1 mile south of Breaks Interstate Park to traffic in both directions on June 6th and 7th to replace a pipe underneath the road. The Virginia Department of Transportation has no official detour route, so you will need to delay your trip 1-2 days or piece together a fairly significant detour (25+ miles) of your own.

Looking at a detour that would leave the coast around Moss Landing, go south through King City, then rejoin the coast at Morrow Bay. Not ideal, but is more direct than many of the alternates. Anyone have thoughts on good roads to use cycling? Thanks.

Have you seen our detour? https://ridewithgps.com/routes/19189649

It begins in Marina and rejoins the route near Cambria.

On Map D, a portion of the route will be closed due to the opening of the Bonnet Carre Spillway near Norco. For about 2 months (until May 2018), River Rd. will be flooded. To detour, use U.S. Highway 61. See a map of the detour route here: http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/1966590257

Slater Rd. between Elder Rd. and Lake Terrell Rd. is closed to all traffic due to bridge construction. The construction is expected to be completed late 2017/early 2018. A cyclist recommended detour is via Lake Terrell Rd. and N. Red River Rd., along the Lummi River.
