International / Bicycle rental Paris - Orleans ?
« on: February 16, 2024, 02:30:10 pm »
I'm looking for a quality bicycle rental company in Paris or Orleans that can provide reliable touring bikes for a couple weeks during Sept. 2024.
If anyone has recent experience with a good vendor please let me know.

regards,
Steve Hurn

South Atlantic / Re: February cycling

Thank you for the thoughtful reply.  What type of riding ?  Road and gravel. Basic MB (rode the Great Divide down to Butte).  Camping is fine.  Not so much the big city unless it is super bike friendly.  A two hour drive is my soft limit (four hours RT).  I can't really justify driving longer than I would be riding.

Appreciate your input.

South Atlantic / February cycling

Fellow cyclists - I have a once in a lifetime opportunity to work remotely during the month of February.  I'd like to find an area of the country where there are extensive bicycling opportunities.  Basically I'm looking for an area that I could rent an apartment M-F and then cycle to my heart's content in the surrounding region - maybe a radius of 120 miles ( a couple hours drive) during the weekend.  I know this is an odd request but I'm reaching out to the cycling community to help me think outside of the box.  Thanks - Steve

Bikecentennial / Cyclist in need
« on: August 11, 2021, 08:32:56 am »
A good friend of mine Julien and his wife Pat lost their home to the Dixie fire last week.  Julien was one of the original bicentennial participants and I have heard him many times fondly recount his stories from those days.  Among other prized possessions, Julien lost his bicycle and all his camping equipment. His daughter Serena has set up a GoFundMe page for anyone interested in helping - it tells the story of Julien and Pat's interaction with their community and gives a sample of the type of people they are.

Update 8/19 - The Howe family would like to sincerely thank everyone who has offered their support.  They have exceeded their GoFundMe goal and have decided to stop accepting further donations.

Does anyone have a recommendation for emergency helicopter evacuation insurance?  I will be riding the Great Divide this summer.
