Wow thank you John and Pat. Also Bikeforums.net!! Also I saw Reddit as well. I’ll drive myself crazy with all of that though.

I do need to figure out how to journal but can’t be too hard. Also I wasn’t planning on bringing a camera (I figure I’ll use my cell for now). I can get a camera along the way.

Yes Sir but the amount of information is overwhelming. Plus I’m doing all of this on my phone. I just now was trying to use the East Coast Greenway map.

Basically I live just north of Ft Lauderdale but closer to Boca Raton.

The winging it, well I have a bad habit of trying to make life harder for myself then necessary. Like I said I really don’t like thinking of the day to day necessities.

You know just now we were getting in the car and I waived and said hello to a gentleman that is kind of stuck here in the United States (from Brazil). Older guy that doesn’t even speak English. I spoke to him for a second and I got in the car and my wife was shaking her head.

I asked what? She said “you can talk to anyone”. And that Sir is what I like to do.

Also I’m trying to find out the differences between this forum, Crazyguyonabike, and I found a Facebook group with a lot of experienced people.

So much to learn. Just want to pedal

Thank you guys. I’m starting to think it best not to just wing it. I am forgetting why I wanted to do this in the first. The daily things in life, I really don’t like having to think about. I wear the same style clothes and color and eat the same things for a reason.

Just want to cycle and see new things. It there is a guide where I don’t have to worry about going to sleep at night then I should take advance of that. Some people may like that part. Me not a fan .

Thank you. I was looking at Jupiter to try that state park as my first stop to try it all out. But then try and make my way west. But I am still checking it out. I think I know that bridge. Last year we went to (not on bike), Jensen Beach. That seemed nice too.

Thank you. I didn’t want to keep peppering him with questions but I wasn’t sure if he meant dirt trails or what they have in TrailLink (the app). I do use those where I live and they are awesome.

Honestly I fell last year and broke my 48 year long streak of never breaking a bone. Destroyed my collarbone. I learned to become way more careful.

Just need to see if I can piece all of this up and out of here. I tell you people make this look easy but I literally just took the wheel off the bike today for the first time and I didn’t put it back right. Ended up going to the bike shop with the bike in my back seat (I have a cheap old convertible). Started raining and my phone I thought broke (it overheated and shut down in this weather). Turns out T mobile went down all over the country.

Thank you Sir. I always used Strava on my phone. They just changed their whole model and a lot of things that were free are now premium.

I have a Trek FX2 hybrid, so I can’t do too much on trails but I will check it all out. Thank you again.

Thank you. I always heard of Strava’s heatmap but never used it but I will get the premium. Actually I recognized your name from all the searching I was doing. You have a lot of experience!

To be honest I would rather go up the coast (or any other way) instead of US-27. I don’t even like driving a car on that road (or a semi  about a 15 ago I decided to see the country that way  )

So basically then it’s:

Up the coast

Up around the East side of Lake Okeechobee via US 98/441 or

A bit South and over to Naples?

Hello. I’ve decided to get on a bike and see the country. I should be leaving within a couple of weeks. Looking to head north but not up the East coast. I’m looking at the map (Komoot) and it looks like it has me going up 441 to 98 and around Lake Okeechobee. I have been up on 441 to Royal Palm Beach but never went further.

I plan on camping but will stay at a hotel/motel if needed as I figure things out.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. (And I did try the search function here and on Crazyguyonabike nothing seemed to come up from what I saw). Thank you so much!
