Classifieds / FS 2006 TREK 520 - $1150 OBO

Bought this bike for a trip this summer that never materialized. Never ridden, some upgrades, SKS black fenders (new in box), and Sugino touring crank, the original Shimano 105 triple is new in box and will send it along with the bike. Rear rack is replaced with a blackburn rack and front rack is not attached, Jandd Mountaineering. All of it goes for $1150 OBO plus shipping or will deliever if close to the DC metro.

Currently set up for touring and commuting with a rear rack and full fenders. New Panaracer touring tires. Gear Talk / Novara Safari Front Rack? and Fenders?

I could not resist picking up the safari at $660, even though as my wife points out i have one ass and six bikes.

What front rack works with the disc brake and what fenders are any other safari riders using?

Gear Talk / Front Rack Problems on New Bike

I just bought a new touring bike, Trek 520. I also bought new racks because i sold my old touring bike and the racks went with it. I am having quite a time getting the front rack to line up straight with the wheel once i tighten it down. The rear is just a little off but i can live with that. Anyone know a good trick to make it so? My last bike did not have this issue when hanging the racks for some reason. I have a jandd low rider front rack.

Curious what everyone takes? I usually have a multi-tool, tire patch kit, a few spokes, extra allen keys, pressure gauge, duct tape, and a few extra bolts, nuts. i'm trying to absolutely minimize my repair kit and just want to compare....

Gear Talk / MSR VELO TENT

Hey,

Anyone out-there use or have experience with the MSR Velo Tent? I have been checking one out for possibly buying it and using for touring due to the vestibule that would fit my bike/bikes. I am currently using The North Face Lunar Light for the past 7 years for backpacking and biking.

I am moving back to the DC area this spring from Germany. I am originally from NC and am looking to tour in the summer from DC to Wilmington NC or from Manteo on the Outer Banks to Murphy in the mountains along NC Bike Route 2. If anyone is interested please contact jason.b.nicholson@us.army.mil.
