I actually hadn't. But going over the material I wasn't able to find anything great.
Really I was hoping for an old MS 150 route that ended on the Chicago lake front.
I don't like google map bike directions b/c you end up with 600 turns onto unnamed trails at .1 mile intervals. Also I was hoping to avoid Gary, IN which is known as a high crime area.
If I can't pull up a charity ride, I'm going to look for roadways with decent shoulders to take.
I just figured someone on here has done something similar to this at one point and may have saved the route.

Once again I call on the wisdom of the ACA forums. After having no luck on a google search, and a ACA forum search, I pose my question:
I am riding the NT (westbound) and am currently in Cleveland, OH. I have reason to stop in Chicago and was wondering if anyone could help me with a decent route off the NT (somewhere in IN) up to Chicago, IL.

You were right. Must have been the computer in Austin. Thankfully it works at this one in Houston.
I would like to ask if there is a reason you jogged North, instead of taking 90 through Lake Charles. Seems like 90 is the favorite, but you detoured off it there. I have had people tell me to avoid staying in Lake Charles, but Iowa is a fine town.

And I will probably steal your route and only change the beginning as I'm coming up from Galveston. I have friends in Houston and will be dropped off in Galveston to avoid riding through Houston proper.

Routes / Houston, TX to New Orleans, LA?

So I'm currently in Austin, TX headed SE out of the state. I will be in Houston/Galveston in a few days (3-4). I have the whole ACA east coast route and FL Connector, but I need to still get to there. I have had several warnings about travelling through LA, MS, and AL. I'd like to see Baton Rouge, and New Orleans if possible, any tips on a route? Links are also good.
(If it matters - I'm male, white, 27yrs old, solo, on road wheels not knobs, been camping, but not opposed to a hotel if needed)

My roommate has the cascade design product. He said it works well.

I have used it about 4 times in home. My method is the following:
Grind coffee with standard grinder. I leave it a little on the coarse side. Then put grounds into an empty nalgene.
Boil water. Screw on the "H2jo" to my nalgene. Pour hot water into the nalgene through the "H2jo" and let sit for 5 minutes. Serve.
My roommate and I have both worked in coffee shops and are coffee snobs. We french press our coffee every morning. I had intended on drinking straight out of the nalgene. but it tastes plasticy, so should be left as an act of desperation. If you pour the coffee into a cup and drink it, it isnt bad. We decided that it was about 80% as good as the coffee made in the traditional press. My roommate still prefers the cascade design product that was posted on this thread. He has field tested it. I gripe that it only makes one cup at a time.

I had some great ideas for a "French No-Press" that would be insanely simple, light and practical for camping, but I can't seem to find anyone making it: My idea is basically a powered-sugar container (with the mesh top) and then one more top would screw on that would look like a tumbler lid. The mesh screen would prevent grounds from entering your mouth, but the brewing process would be identical to a press. Decent idea. No one makes it. I'm probably going to try an in-home test on the tea infuser.

-Did a fair amount of bike repair at some local shops. Had to quit; don't mix business and pleasure.
-Sold my truck and motorcycle after BP Horizon. Bike or bust.
-Single, no kids, no mortgage, no debt, no restrictions.
-currently have 4 bikes but that changes alot.

So I just got this nifty new setup, and I had a quick question:
If I am solo touring and just cooking for myself and I stay on the ACA routes how much fuel should I keep on my person at a given time? Really, I am shopping for fuel bottles and I want to know what size and/or how many to buy. I dont' want gallons of fuel on me, and I don't want to run out in a bad spot. I know someone has a quick easy answer to this.

using that method, I hopped in place for 24 hours and saw the entire world with no travel expenses. highly recommended.
