Routes / Northern Tier September
« on: June 30, 2012, 12:40:10 am »
I was wondering what to expect weather wise starting in Bar Harbor in early September. I would end some place around Minneapolis that year.
The following year I would again start in early September from the west and finish in East Glacier. Again with an early September start.
Appreciate any comments and information.

Routes / ST - Arizona Renaissance Festival
« on: December 19, 2011, 12:45:46 pm »
I have seen a number of people planning to ride the ST during February and March 2012. Just a heads up on something that really jambs up the traffic on US 60 every year.
Outside of Apache Junction, on Saturdays and Sundays from February 11 to April 1, 2012 the Arizona Renaissance Festival is being held and there will be very heavy traffic that you may want to avoid if possible. http://royalfaires.com/arizona/

Gear Talk / Tri-pods

Lite PODZ http://litepodz.com/Home_Page.php looks like an interesting tool if you need a tri-pod for a small camera or to hold a bike light while camping. I have known Tom, the inventor and owner, for several years as he is the REI bicycle shop manager in the Paradise Valley store here in the Phoenix metro area.

International / European Bicycling Resource
« on: August 25, 2011, 11:41:52 am »
I have found a great resource for maps and information on cycling routes in Europe. Start here http://radreise-wiki.aighes.de/index.php?event=radfernweg click on the route and you will be presented with a page of info about the route. Of course it's in German so you will have to translate it to English if you are like me.

Each route appears to have a full gps track in a kmz format.

I sort of stumbled on to http://issuu.com/business and Momentum Magazine which is published by http://www.momentumplanet.com/
Anyway on the Issuu site search for "momentum" and back issues of the magazine can be read online. Great articles.
