General Discussion / Knee injury
« on: March 15, 2005, 05:42:07 pm »
"Andy Pruitt's Medical Guide for Cyclists" is an excellent resource. I think it is only available at http://www.roadbikerider.com/bookstore.htm.
After I went to the pro racers shop and paid for the bike fit, i.e., all the possible adjustments of stem, saddle height and fore and aft, and cleats, I haven't had any more problems with my knees. Pruitt does a pretty good job of explaining this too, but there is nothing like having someone knowledgeable watch your particular body on the bike to get the best fit.  I highly recommend it even for us non-racers.

I just finished Anacortes to Duluth on the Northern Tier with 13 others. I was the only person to have service 75% of the time while some gave up even trying. My phone was with Verizon.

General Discussion / Biking Shorts

Glad you understand the benefits of hygiene! I didn't for a few years, trying to wear shorts for two rides before washing etc.  Shorts are a personal matter but I have loved my Pearl Izumi, Hind, and Cannondale shorts. I'm tall and the Jackson/Gibbens have legs that too short for me. Good luck!

I haven't had any saddle sores since I had a professional bike fit for saddle position and took up rigorous hygiene. Good luck!

General Discussion / shipping BOB
« on: March 16, 2004, 01:02:36 am »
Does anyone have experience with shipping a BOB trailer? I will fly but am shipping the bike UPS and wonder what the best way to get the trailer to meet me at the start of my tour.

General Discussion / PLEASE HELP

A Google search of "trip insurance" brought up several sites that will either sell and/or compare types of insurance. If you own a car or have homeowner's insurance check with your insurance companies for coverage of the bike itself.
