General Discussion / Re: Solo Trip Cooking Logistics

Not the original question but regarding travel with fuel bottles, I have several times in checked luggage and never had an issue, most recently Sept. 2019. Since flying home after a trip doesn't give much time to let them air out that should tell us something.

Five speed: good thing IRC still makes a five speed freewheel.
1" headsets are in fact easily found: e.g., IRC, Richey, Velo Orange, Chris King. I just put one on my new Waterford Rando.

I always tour with Gatorskins and get about 2500 miles on them. I also hate the harsh ride they provide but I hate flats more so I put up with it.

I enjoyed the video but after sharing it with my touring friends the consensus is never Kansas.

Does anyone have  knowledge that the traffic east bound on the Going to the Sun Road in Glacier National Park will be any heavier on a Sunday morning in mid July v. a Wednesday morning?

Routes / gravel near West Glacier

The ACA Northern Tier section 2 map 23 shows 2.9 miles of gravel on Blankenship Rd just before the route rejoins US 2. Does anyone know if it is still gravel? My map is from my 2004 ride.

From Sheldon Brown (who died in 2008):
A very nice British bike. There are all sorts of models, and a great many of these came into the U.S through the big mail order companies. Some models were very ornate. The ornate examples, with N.R. parts in guideline condition are probably worth around $900. Relatively plain examples with N.R. parts are probably worth several hundred less. There are few people who consider these to be super desirable, so they remain a very good value. There was a very plain model called the classic that was remarkably well-constructed that we tried forever to sell. It was such a nice frame with so little of a following. Maybe people will be inspired to take another look at these.

I'd love to ride to Yaak again. Will run it by the group. I'm the only one of the 7 of us  not to have to worry about a job.

In the mountains, a bike that is couple of pounds lighter is much less important than a 220# body.

Kalispell is our start and finish ( a big figure 8 including Eureka, Going to the Sun and Browning) leaving  for Logan State Park on a July Sunday morning. We will get off US 2 on a local road before Libby.

I'm planning on riding US 2 from Kalispell to Libby. I'm interested in your experience of this stretch of highway.
