Hey,

I'm building a new rear wheel for my touring bike.  I'm looking for suggestions on the rim.  I need 700c.  So far I'm thinking of using a 36 hole LX or XT hub.

Hey,

I'm planning another long, long bike tour (over a year).  In the past I've used a bob trailer, but this time around I think panniers are the way to go.  

I'm looking for advice on panniers.  Most people say ortlieb, but I'm not made of money and therefore have a very limited budget.  The panniers would have to water-proof.  

Any suggestions on what to choose?

Gear Talk / mountain bike frames for touring

Ok,

The deal is I'm planning for an extended tour of central/south america and i'm looking for advice on mountain bike frames.  due to the fact that most people ride on 26" wheels down there and that the road conditions suck, i've been advised to ride a moutain bike.  all other tours i've completed on a touring bike.  i'm looking for suggestions on a mountain bike frame that has relaxed geometry and that i can comfortably put drop handle bars on.  i'd love some help here.

yep,

go to good-will and buy a 50 cent cotton long sleeve dress shirt.  i rode across country this summer and that's all i used.  it's thin enough that it dries fast, it keeps bugs off, it's cool, it blocks sun.  you look like an idiot, but then again tights aren't much cooler.
