Biking from N.Y. to California and back

Hello... I am on my Dream trip of biking from Long Island, New York to California and back..I just arrived in Maryland this afternoon.. tomorrow I am attempting to get help crossing the Hatem bridge since they do not allow bikes... anyone have any tips or advice.. I am new to the Adventure Cycling group so anything would probably help..

The Maryland Transportation Authority can likely help you get across the bridge. You can find the information you need to contact them at the bottom of this page:

Depending on your route, you might consider rt 1.  You can ride across the dam and the ride south from there is nice.  It is pretty hilly getting to the dam though.
